Bournemouth Concert Brass has been fortunate over the years to have benefited from the musical excellence, experience and expertise of some fine conductors. 

Musical Director - Lloyd Bartlett

Loyd is a postgraduate of Trinity College of Music where he read Trombone studies following on from his previous training from Peter Wise.

Lloyd was resident conductor of the Hyde training band, before becoming resident of Verwood Concert Brass in 2006 for a six month period. Following this he conducted the Ringwood and Burley band and also spent 7 years with the Millstream Orchestra.

In 2018, he became professional conductor of Poole Borough Band and has played enjoyed contest success with them- gaining a 3rd place in the 3rd section National finals in 2019, winning the third section Area contest in 2020 and also winning the second section Wessex contest in 2021.

He has been associated with BCB since 2001 as a trombone player and is very pleased to now be working with them as their Musical Director.

Professional Conductor - Matt Brown

Resident conductor - Bill Willis

Bill joined Bournemouth Concert Brass in 1993 and plays Eb Bass with the band. Raised in Poole with a Salvation Army background Bill was encouraged to play and write by well known local musicians including Malcolm Wheale, Alwyn Green (BSO) and Glyn Bosanko. In addition to studying conducting with Russell Gray, Bill is a fine composer and arranger and has had many of his compositions and arrangements used in brass band competitions and recordings. He has been called upon to conduct many local bands including, Downton, Ferndown. Gosport & Solent, Hyde, Poole and Verwood.

Bill lives locally and works as a Major Incident Manager with Cap Gemini.

BCB acknowledges the time and effort put in behind the scenes and support given to our Professional conductors by our previous Resident Conductor Bill Willis. Bill not only maintains the band's library of music but also produces many music arrangements for the band.
