Ken was the band's chairman, a position he held for 17 years over two periods, and was the band's Life President.
His senior banding started in 1968 with the Shaftesbury Crusade (Bristol) band, qualifying for 3 successive Championship section National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall and winning 4th prize in 1970. He then spent 9 years with the City of Coventry band playing regularly at the British Open Championship and other National contests. At this time Ken enjoyed a spell of playing with the famous Harry Mortimer's Men O'Brass and All Star Brass. This was then followed by 2 years with Morris Motors band, then conducted by Harry Mortimer, before joing BCB in 1982.Â
